My review of Nevil Shute's ON THE BEACH will follow later. 5 Stars for this novel! However, the copy I ordered (see cover photo above) purportedly printed in America by an unnamed printing house in Texas, is maddeningly full of typographical errors, formatting issues, and there are some hints that the text was entered into manuscript form by multiple typists, each working on different chapters.

Nevil Shute was born on 17 January 1899 in Ealing, London. After attending the Dragon School and Shrewsbury School, he studied Engineering Science at Balliol College, Oxford. He worked as an aeronautical engineer and published his first novel, Marazan, in 1926.
